Apart from normal SEO, local SEO is equally important for businesses to increase online visibility in the Google places/maps results. Therefore, the first step is to register your local business with Google My Business and get verified by Google. It’s common as a webmaster, you will want to have your custom URL of “My Google Business page” as close as your domain name or brand. I was not satisfied with the custom URL that was created before, thus I decided to get it change but was not able to find any link for me to execute the change on “Google My Business page”.
However, luckily with the help from the Google support team, I was able to change it successfully for the second time. I found out that only Google side has the full control power to validate your request and make the change if you are going for a second change.
Happens that if you need to change your Google My Business page’s custom URL for the second time, here is how you should do it.
Upon logging into your Google My Business account, you should see a menu icon on the top right hand corner. Click on it to open the drop down menu.
Click on Support to open “Google My Business Help” on the right-hand side.
Scroll down and click on Email.
Fill up the form and submit.
Make sure under: “What problem are you experiencing?”
Select “Other problem” and input the following under “Describe your problem”:
I will like to request the change of the custom URL
Google+ Page/Profile Name :
Google+ Page/Profile URL :
CustomURL received that Google pre-reserved :
New CustomURL that the partner would prefer :
After submission, you will receive a quick response from the Google business team via email stating that they will process your request and it will take 1 -2 weeks for an update from them.
Once approved, you will see that the custom URL will be gone, thus do not panic if you are getting error 404 on your Google My Business page custom URL later on.
To change your Google My Business Custom URL, visit and login http://plus.google.com
Proceed to your Google plus business page. Under “About”, you will find “Get URL”, click on it and select the option that you will like. Normally Google is giving you 3 options to choose. After selecting, click submit and confirm. Your permanent custom URL will be changed and set.
I hope this short guide will help you change your Google My Business Page custom URL to your desired ones. Good luck and all the best.
